It is always advisable to have insurance in case of any breakages during your stay, which would normally be deducted from your deposit. If you would like to look into this further, we can put you in touch with an insurance company.
The pool at A French Country House can be either heated or cooled depending on your preference, and the season. It also has a swim jet for dedicated swimmers and a floating electrically operated cover for safety.
The Aude has two main focuses – tourism and wine – and there are many events throughout the year to highlight and support these; from the Jeudis en Malepère vineyard gatherings to wine-tasting events and music festivals. Our Concierge service will ensure that you are informed of the events taking place during your stay.
We can provide a full concierge service for all our properties. Whether you would like us to help with restaurant suggestions, make bookings for you, source a babysitter, or find a gym to use during your stay – we are here to help. Please visit our Concierge page.
The nearest beaches on the Mediterranean coast are just over an hour’s drive from A French Country House and about an hour and a quarter from Le Coeur de la Circulade, but there are other, better beaches a bit further – ask us for our recommendations, we have sampled many of them personally.
Hotel grade bedding and towels are provided, as well as pool / beach towels.
Sadly No, parties are not allowed. This is both for the comfort of our neighbours who prefer to enjoy the peace and quiet, and for insurance purposes.
The houses are exclusively for the use of the people named on the rental agreements.
All our properties are non-smoking. We do, however, provide ashtrays for anyone who would like to smoke in the garden areas or on the roof terrace.
For A French Country House:
We can provide parking for up to 3 cars in a secure underground car park a short walk from the house for the duration of your stay. We will require some information prior to your arrival to facilitate this. If you require more parking than this, please discuss this with us directly.
For Le Cœur de la Circulade :
There is plenty of parking available in the village, but we can also arrange secure parking if required.
For A French Country House:
There are usually taxis at the airport to meet arriving flights, but the easiest way to get into town from Carcassonne airport – if you haven’t booked a hire car – is on the dedicated airport bus. This will drop you at the train station, which is a short, downhill walk to the house.
For Le Cœur de la Circulade :
We would advise hiring a car for the duration of your stay with us.
For A French Country House:
There are two supermarkets in the Bastide, just a 3-to-4-minute walk from the house. There are hypermarkets on the outskirts of Carcassonne, but these are a taxi or car ride away.
There is also a small food market on a Tuesday and Thursday, and the full food and clothes market every Saturday in the Bastide.
For Le Cœur de la Circulade :
There are supermarkets in Montréal (6-minute drive), and Bram (12-minute drive). There is a food market in Bram every Wednesday morning, and a fresh seafood stall in Montréal every Sunday morning.
If you wish to cancel your reservation, then we will refund your full deposit if outside 60 days of your check-in date, 50% if cancelled within 60-30 days of your check-in, and 0% if cancelled less than 30 days of your check-in date. Your deposit comprises 25% of your booking fee.
The Cité de Carcassonne, a medieval fortress that dominates the skyline with its fairy-tale towers and fortifications is the most dominant attraction in the Aude region. This a UNESCO World Heritage site covering over 2,500 years of History. Access is totally free, but you will need to buy a ticket if you want to access the castle and ramparts.
